ABOUT

My name is Lucy Smith, and I’m currently studying first year Journalism at UOW. This blog will be focussing on music within the Illawarra, incorporating music news about the live scene and current emerging artists that characterise the high level of talent Wollongong has to offer.
I have chosen to do a music blog, because ultimately I’m studying this degree to become a music journalist. I’ve always been passionate towards music, after studying the flute at Wollongong Conservatorium of Music for nine years and learning music theory for four. Instead of performing experimental jazz flute and continuing to deal with ‘this one time at band camp’ jokes for the rest of my life, I’ve decided to channel my interest in music and combine it with my love of writing. I feel this blog will be a good start to learning more about the Illawarra music scene, as well as allowing me to meet new people and listen to some awesome talent.

As Madonna once said, music makes the people come together – and I’m excited for the opportunities this blog will bring whilst also broadening my music taste.

…And yes, yes I did just quote Madonna.
